Big enough that a title challenge is a fair thing to ask for out loud.

FanbaseHuge

One of the largest followings in the league, and it travels everywhere.

Something on the board, and not yet enough of it to be known for.

Silverware, loudly, and none since Season 1
Identity
Ambition and bold transfers that have stopped producing

A big club that behaves like a bigger one. Bold signings, a huge and impatient support, and a habit of announcing names that were supposed to change everything. The transfer window is where FC Cat are at their best, and the crowd has stayed this size because something always looks like it is about to happen.

They did the Season 1 double, taking the APL Cup off Giraffe Athletic 5-1 and the Super Cup off Cobra City 3-2, and have won nothing since. Fifth, seventh, fourth, then ninth in Season 4, their worst. They went out of that season's cup at home to Hippo FC, who play in Division 2.

Rivalries

The Primal Rivalry Derby

Dog CF

HeatBoiling

The fixture the season is arranged around. Nobody involved is calm about it.

Some rivalries are built on trophies. This one is built on the gap between what two clubs expect and what they get.

FC Cat is the club of ambition: a big fanbase, bold transfers, and a habit of signing names that were supposed to change everything. They also have the distinction nobody expected: the Season 1 double, the APL Cup beaten out of Giraffe Athletic 5-1 and the Super Cup taken off Cobra City 3-2. Three seasons later they have not won anything else, and ninth in Season 4 is their worst finish yet.

Dog CF has never finished above eleventh, and finished seventeenth in Season 4. No title, no cup, no era. What they have instead is two APL Cup finals, Season 3 and Season 4, back to back, and they lost both. The Season 3 one went to penalties against Lion City after a goalless final, 4-3. The Season 4 one was 4-3 to Goats United in ninety minutes.

So the argument between them is not about who has won. It is about what winning is worth. FC Cat have two trophies from a season nobody thinks about any more; Dog CF have two finals from the last two and nothing to show. Each side thinks the other's record is an accident.

Every missed chance feeds it. Every final whistle reopens it.
