The brief
The board's target depends on the club's size and its division, not on last season.
Honours
Trophies from the old APL count too, but have no season recorded.
Rivalries
Lion City
Real needle, and it shows up on the pitch rather than only in the build-up.
This one is asymmetric, and both sides know it.
Lion City are the standard: champions in Seasons 3 and 4, the APL Cup in Season 3, the Super Cup in Seasons 3 and 4, and Benjamin O'Blak's APL d'Or. Nobody else in the league has that.
AFC Dolphin have never finished higher than ninth. Fourteenth, fifteenth, ninth, eleventh. No trophy, no final, no title challenge. What they have is one of the largest fanbases in the league and an expectation that has not been met once in four seasons, which is its own kind of pressure, and a heavier one than Lion City carry.
That is what makes it bite. For Lion City this is a match they are supposed to win, and being taken to the wire by a club in the bottom half is the sort of thing a season gets remembered for. For Dolphin it is the one fixture where the gap between what they are and what they believe they should be is put on the pitch and settled.
It is not two kings fighting for a throne. It is one king, and a club that refuses to accept that is the arrangement.
